Distinguished Alumni Award

Such an honour to learn this week that our CEO, Sue Anstiss is to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award from Loughborough University in recognition of ‘outstanding contributions to grassroots & women’s sport’.

It’s only the second time the School of Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences has made awards of this kind. The first were given in 2019 to three absolute legends of Loughborough Sport - Rex Hazeldine, Rod Thorpe & Dave Bunker.

We’re delighted that Mary Nevill will also be recognised this year for her outstanding contributions to sport & sports science.

Mary & Sue will receive their awards next month at a formal ceremony to induct the Loughborough Sporting Hall of Fame recipients who this year include Phil Burgess, Lisa Dobriskey, Goldie Sayers, Jon Schofield, Nicola White, Emma Mitchell, Mark Simpson & Penny Briscoe.

Sue said “I have such fond memories of my time at Loughborough & have been lucky enough to maintain strong connections with the University since graduating almost 35 years ago. It’s an enormous honour to be recognised in this way by a place I have always loved & still hold in such high regard.

I only wish my mum & dad were still alive to see how it's all turned out since they dropped me off at Loughborough's Faraday Hall as an enthusiastic young Fresher back in 1985...”

Congratulations Sue what a year 2021 has been!
